What’s Up Wednesday | July 2022

Happy Wednesday, friends! I hope you’re enjoying your summer. It’s been hot in Phoenix, so I’ve been trying to stay indoors and counting down the days to fall. Just running an errand leaves me exhausted in this heat, lol. Anyway, it’s been a few months since I shared a What’s Up Wednesday update. As always, on the last Wednesday of every month, I typically link up with Sheaffer and Shay, where we share what’s been up with us.

What we’ve been eating: Last week, I shared where I find my recipes for our weekly meal planning and made Mrs. Mooney’s Penne from this delicious cookbook. Whether it’s her cookbook or blog, I love Tieghan’s recipes!

What I’m reminiscing about: I’ve been reminiscing about our trip to Sedona two years ago. We’ve gone every year since we moved out to Phoenix since it’s only a two-and-a-half-hour drive. I’m hoping we can make a day trip up this fall since we haven’t gone yet this year.

What I’m loving: This tennis dress. It’s so soft, comfortable, and flattering that I want it in more colors. Also, there are built-in shorts underneath, which I love. I bought this on a whim, and now I keep asking Brett to do all the sporty things, so I have an excuse to wear my dress!

What we’ve been up to: It’s been a quiet month around here, which was much needed, but I’m itching to be busy again. I feel like I’m more productive when I have a lot going on and the biggest procrastinator when I have a lot of time. Also, I tried to convince Brett to road trip to Vegas last minute earlier this month for NBA Summer League, but we were both still recuperating from our Cali trip — I was willing to rally, but he’s too logical, haha!

What I’m dreading: We’ll be converting to a month-to-month lease soon at our apartment until we can move into our house. If you want to follow our home build, I’d love for you to follow me on Instagram. I have a Home Build highlight and share regular updates on my stories.

What I’m working on: I’m working on my Goodreads reading challenge since I’ve been in a reading slump lately, but I have a list of books that I’m excited about again. Here’s my most recent book review, and I’m currently reading The First Mistake by Sandie Jones.

What I’m excited about: Brett’s planned a little staycation for us that we’re going on in a couple of weeks! He’s been quiet (aka secretive) about the details, so I’m excited to see what he’s been scheming.

What I’m watching/reading: I’ve already watched The Summer I Turned Pretty an embarrassing amount of times. It’s so nostalgic; I remember binging the books during middle school. Brett’s over listening to me gush about Conrad, so I’ve convinced friends to watch it to debate whether we’re Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah. As for what I’m reading, I’ve already mentioned that I’m currently reading The First Mistake by Sandie Jones.

What I’m listening to: Friends, I need some new podcast recommendations! Drama Queens, Crime Junkie, Dateline NBC, Snapped, and Where Should We Begin? with Esther Perel are some of the shows I follow. What else should I check out?

What I’m wearing: I’ve been wearing and loving this dress which is so cute and perfect for all occasions, and it comes in all sorts of colors and patterns. I’m packing this one for our next trip.

What I’m doing this weekend: I think we’re going to do something with Brett’s brother and his brother’s girlfriend. Maybe dinner and a game night? We’re always trying to get people to play Catan with us.

What I’m looking forward to next month: We’re going back to the Midwest to see our families. We’ll be in Minnesota and Iowa for the first half and then flying to St. Louis. It’s been almost three years since Brett was in STL, so we’re excited to hit all our favorite spots!

As always, thanks for reading. What’s up with you this month? Let me know in the comments! To see my previous What’s Up Wednesday posts, click here. xo

Oh building is such a fun and yet unbelievably stressful time!! I’m not sure I’m team Conrad or Jeramiah; I honestly liked the first guy she dated better since it leaves all that incestuous- esque drama behind. I hope you have a great staycation and a wonderful trip “home” to see your families.

I love the staycation idea! Sometimes that is what works best and that is where we are. (Not that I wouldn’t mind a trip in the future:)). Look forward to more posts.
