Where I Find My Recipes

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that 90% of my stories are food related. Usually, it’s when we go to restaurants, but over the last few years, I’ve started spending more time in the kitchen. I’m still uncomfortable winging it and creating recipes, so whenever I sit down to meal plan, I always look for new recipes. So today, I thought I’d share where I find my recipes in hopes of inspiring you to try something new.

Cookbooks

I know there are so many free recipes out there these days between food bloggers and Pinterest, but I still love owning cookbooks (and still prefer print books over e-books). There’s something about flipping through the photos and having the cookbooks displayed as part of my kitchen decor — see all my kitchen essentials here. I’m slowly cooking through this cookbook, and I can’t recommend it enough.

Cookbook + Cookbook Stand

One of my favorite recipes from this cookbook is the Croque Madame Breakfast Pizza. We went from never making pizza at home to making it a new staple. The garlic & herb pizza dough from Trader Joe’s is what we use, and it’s so delicious!

Food Bloggers

Typically I pick one recipe out of my cookbook each week, and then I turn to food bloggers and Pinterest for the rest of my meal planning. I know so many fantastic food bloggers are out there that I need to branch out more. It’s such a letdown when a new recipe doesn’t turn out that once I find a blogger I trust, I tend to stick to them. Here are a few of my favorites: Half Baked Harvest, The Recipe Critic, and Eatwell101.

10-Minute Sheet Pan Steak with Lemon Zucchini from Eatwell101 is one of my all-time favorite recipes. It’s easy and delicious; I love making it for the family when they come. Brett always makes mashed potatoes (another fave!), and we pair them with a vegetable.

Pinterest

I generally turn to Pinterest when I don’t know what to make; I usually search for “quick and easy dinner recipes” and see what catches my eye. I’d love it if you gave me a follow on Pinterest, and all the recipes on this board are tried and true favorites.

Who are your favorite food bloggers that you love and trust? I’m always on the hunt for my new favorite recipe! xo

  22. Thanks for your honesty. Likewise, about 90% of my blog posts are recipes or food related. As food bloggers, we all gain inspiration from somewhere: books, restaurants, online.. However, I have done many culinary arts classes as part of my Nutrition college courses. But I have always had a creative side for developing recipes. Most of my recipes are inspired by cultural foods and meals are grow up eating.
