We’re engaged — eek! On September 12th, Brett asked me to be his wife; it was one of the best days of my life. We’re so excited, and I still can’t believe we get to spend the rest of our lives together.
When Brett asked me to marry him, it was better than anything I could’ve ever expected — read on for all the proposal details! It was beautiful, thoughtful, and perfect for us. I’m marrying the person with whom I feel most at home, and there is nobody I laugh with more. Brett is intelligent, kind, loyal, and reliable. He makes me feel loved and supported. He’s my best friend, teammate, and my future husband.
Over the last three years of dating, Brett has become my heart’s match. It hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve loved learning and growing together. Life with him is more than I could ask for, and I’m so excited about this new season of adventure.
I want to share our engagement story with you guys, and I also want to document the memory since this is my online scrapbook of sorts. It’ll be fun to look back and read it as time passes.
We went on our annual trip to San Diego. Like always, I spreadsheet planned everything; however, Brett told me he wanted to arrange something for Monday evening. He kept everything a surprise and only gave me hints about what to wear.
Leading up to the event, I kept trying to guess what he had planned because I hated not knowing. Ultimately, I assumed it would be dinner reservations at an upscale restaurant with what he told me to wear. But then he pulled up to the beach, and we walked up to the most beautiful picnic. Multiple people stopped to take pictures, but fortunately, we faced the water and could tune them out behind us.
After we settled in, Brett asked to get some photos of us, so he set up the camera on a tripod and used the self-timer. Then he asked me to face the ocean for some pictures, which is not unusual since we shoot photos like that for the blog. But when I turned around, Brett was down on one knee, and I just kept thinking, “omg, it’s happening!”. He said some lovely things before asking me to marry him.
Then we spent the rest of the night enjoying our picnic, FaceTiming family & friends, and basking in being engaged and fiancés. We stopped by the Airbnb, having every intention to change and then go back out to celebrate but exhaustion from all the excitement quickly took over. So we ended up staying in and continuing the celebration at brunch the next day before driving home. It was a trip I’ll remember forever.
As for my ring details: The center stone is a brilliant round cut held with beaded/rounded prongs and set in 14KW encrusted with pave diamonds set 3/4 way down. It’s so elegant, sparkly, and timeless — I couldn’t love it more!
