What’s Up Wednesday | November 2022

How is December tomorrow? I feel like this year went by in the blink of an eye! I’m ready to soak up this last month of 2022, but in the meantime, I’m linking up with Sheaffer and Shay for What’s Up Wednesday, where we share what’s been up with us this month.

What we’ve been eating: Brett made turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, scalloped corn, and cornbread for Thanksgiving, so we’ve been eating all the Thanksgiving leftovers. I also love using our leftover turkey for this casserole recipe each year.

What I’m reminiscing about: Last November was when our house’s model home opened, and we got to take Brett’s mom to see it while she was here this time. I’ve been reminiscing about this whole building process lately since we thought we’d be moving in by the end of this year, but we haven’t even had our pre-drywall walkthrough — trying to stay positive and know it’ll be worth it in the long run when we’re finally in!

What I’m loving: We got our engagement photos back this month, and I love them! Our photographer suggested Mount Lemmon, and I knew it was the place as soon as she threw it out as an option. I love driving up whenever we’re in the Tuscon area.

What we’ve been up to: As I’ve mentioned, Brett’s mom and my mom were both here celebrating Thanksgiving with us last week (it was their first time meeting). We did an escape room, went out to eat, saw Blue Man Group, swung by our house, had a relaxing day at home on Thanksgiving, and then ended with Christmas at the Princess. We’ve been busy, but it’s been fun!

What I’m dreading: The next three weeks of work. We’re always off from Christmas Eve through New Year’s, so the stretch between Thanksgiving and Christmas is always a mental challenge. Just 13 more days!

What I’m working on: Wedding or, should I say, trip planning, haha! We’re going to Europe next fall for our elopement and honeymoon, and we booked our round-trip flights this month. Now we need to look at the actual elopement portion and figure out the details.

What I’m excited about: We’re going to Vegas in two weeks, and I couldn’t be more excited. We have a packed itinerary, and I can’t wait to recap everything after we return. If you want to follow along in real time, I’ll be sharing over on my Instagram stories!

What I’m watching/reading: We’re on the second to last season of Game of Thrones. Unpopular opinion, but I’m ready to finish so we can watch something else! As for what I’m reading, I’m currently reading Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover.

What I’m listening to: Surprisingly, I haven’t been into Christmas music as much this year; usually, I’ll have it on nonstop by Thanksgiving. However, I have recently been on a Ben Rector kick, listening through all his albums.

What I’m wearing: Give me all the sweater dresses, please! I linked two of my current faves below — they’re so comfy (not itchy at all), cute, and easy to style. Throw a long coat over it completing my favorite winter look.

What I’m doing this weekend: We plan to have a chill weekend after hosting our parents last weekend. Our tentative plan includes possibly hiking a little, driving by our house, and taking the boys to a dog park.

What I’m looking forward to next month: So many things, from our Vegas trip to Christmas to having a holiday break from work — it’s my favorite time of the year. It’ll be nice to decompress a little before heading into 2023.

Now for the $50 giveaway, the winner is Sarah Elizabeth! Please email me to redeem your prize. As always, thank you for reading. What’s been up with you this month? Let me know in the comments! To see my previous What’s Up Wednesday posts, click here. xo

It’s crazy how long home building projects seem to be taking lately! The whole real estate market is 😳. We are moving next year and I know we will need work done (guessing we will have to learn a lot of DIY!).

Congratulations on the engagement! I have been married for 18 years. We had a rough start but things are better now than they were when we got married 18 years ago. Marriage takes work. And many people don’t want to do the work. I love the white sweater dress you are wearing in the majority of the pics. And your engagement pics are beautiful too!
