What’s Up Wednesday | May 2021

I’m back, friends! Today I’m linking up with Sheaffer and Shay again for What’s Up Wednesday, where we share what’s been up with us this month. I preface this post by saying this is essentially a Mexico edition of What’s Up Wednesday, but I’ll also share a full recap of where we went, what we did, and where we ate on the blog over the next few weeks.

What we’ve been eating: We ate so much good food in Mexico. I tried numerous authentic dishes, and everything was delicious. I can be a picky eater sometimes, so I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the food.

What I’m reminiscing about: I’m still reminiscing about the Italian dinner we had on the beach in Tulum. The ambiance, the drinks, the food, the view — it was all phenomenal. It was one of the best meals I’ve ever had.

What I’m loving: My new cookbook and cookbook stand came in right before we left for our trip. I struggled to find the perfect cookbook stand, but I love how this one looks on our counter. Also, I’m looking forward to cooking my way through Tieghan’s beautiful cookbook.

Cookbook + Cookbook Stand

What we’ve been up to: The main thing we’ve been up to is our Mexico trip. We were gone for nine days, but now that we’re home, we’re returning to our routines and work.

What I’m working on: I’m working on lots of content from our trip that I’m looking forward to sharing. Hopefully, this weekend, I can convince Brett to sit down and edit all the photos from our trip. 😉

What I’m excited about: Brett turns 27 next week, and I’m excited to celebrate with him! Our trip was our present to one another, but we’ll still do something low-key, like go out for dinner on his actual birthday.

What I’m watching/reading: We’re about to start the last season of Rectify. As for what I’m reading, I’m currently reading Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert. Also, I recently shared another book review with some great reads.

What I’m listening to: I’m still going through all the Crime Junkie episodes.

What I’m wearing:

Hat | Dress | Sandals

I’m usually not a hat kind of gal; I can’t pull off the effortlessly cool look with hats. Originally I bought this hat, but it wasn’t working on me despite the excellent reviews. So I ended up snagging this one right before our trip, and I’ll be rocking it throughout the summer.

What I’m doing this weekend: We don’t have any set plans — probably just taking it easy after traveling the past two weekends. Our weekends generally consist of grabbing coffee, taking Tucker to a dog park, going for brunch/dinner, grocery shopping, and relaxing at home.

What I’m looking forward to next month: We’re going to Minnesota for Brett’s aunt’s wedding. I haven’t met his mom’s side of the family (we have only FaceTimed), so I’m looking forward to meeting all of them in person!

As always, thanks for stopping by. What’s up with you this month? Let me know in the comments! xo

I can be a picky eater too but do make an effort to try local cuisine wherever we go on vacation and have been pleasantly surprised by some of the foods I’ve tried over the years.

  7. Chloe Brown is great! I loved Dani Brown, the second one, even more. And I am about to read Eve Brown, the last one, in the next couple weeks. I love Hibbert’s writing – it’s perfectly sarcastic and sexy!
