What’s Up Wednesday | January 2023

It’s my first What’s Up Wednesday of 2023! I’m excited to see what 2023 holds, and I can’t wait to take you guys along for all the fun (like maybe we’ll finally move into our house?). As usual, I’m linking up with Sheaffer and Shay today, where we share what’s up with us this month.

What we’ve been eating: Chinese New Year was this past weekend, so we’ve been eating a lot of Chinese food. My mom called with a list of foods we’re supposed to eat for their symbolic meaning to help bring luck and good fortune, like fish and dumplings. Growing up, my family always made homemade dumplings, but I always buy mine frozen from the local Asian grocery store (and I secretly prefer them!).

What I’m reminiscing about: The photo below is from January 2022. We just had our pre-drywall walkthrough two weeks ago. Insulation was supposed to start later that week, but it’s been delayed till next week, which is another two and a half weeks of our house just sitting there, assuming no more delays. It’s been quite the journey, but I keep reminding myself it’ll all be worth it in the end.

What I’m loving: These double-piercing dangle chain earrings. After years of not wearing an earring, I recently found my double piercing again in my right ear, so I immediately ordered these the other week and have been wearing them since.

What we’ve been up to: We saw the new Avatar movie over the weekend. I have mixed feelings about it, especially the ending. Overall, I’m glad I went and will probably still go to the next one, haha.

What I’m dreading: Work has been hectic and stressful recently, making me dread opening my inbox every morning. I know it’s only temporary (hopefully) because of new assignments, but I’m definitely out of my comfort zone!

What I’m working on: I’ve been so busy in my work and personal life lately that I’m working on getting back into some routine so I’m not constantly scrambling to finish things last minute (like writing this blog post).

What I’m excited about: My new carry-on suitcase that I’m in love with. I’ve wanted new luggage for a while and finally decided to pull the trigger. Brett’s had his set for years, and they’ve held up great, so I decided to go with the same brand.

What I’m watching/reading: We’re currently in the middle of watching Jackie Brown. As for what I’m reading, I’m presently reading Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Also, I recently shared another book review with some great reads!

What I’m listening to: I’ve been alternating between the 48 Hours podcast and this playlist, depending on what I’m in the mood for. If you have a true crime podcast recommendation, please share it with me because I’m always looking for new podcasts.

What I’m wearing: Brett and I went on a dinner date last night, and I’m still reaching for my sweater dress. It’s so comfy (not itchy), cute, and easy to style. Throw a long coat over it completing my favorite winter look.

What I’m doing this weekend: I don’t have definite plans for this weekend, and I’m not complaining. I’m going to try and get ahead on some blogging and catch up on some reading before February’s hecticness.

What I’m looking forward to next month: February will be a busy month. I’m going on a business and a personal trip to two new cities. As much as I love revisiting my favorite spots, I’m excited to cross some new places off my list this year.

Thanks for stopping by for my monthly What’s Up Wednesday update. What’s up with you this month? Let me know in the comments! xo
