Top 9 Binge-Worthy Romantic Christmas Movies

I can’t believe Christmas is this weekend! My mom is flying in on Christmas Eve and will stay for ten days, and I can’t wait to show her around some of our favorite spots. I’ll probably recap her trip on the blog in a couple of weeks. Until she gets here, you’ll find me on the couch watching binge-worthy romantic Christmas movies in my spare time. I’ve rounded up some of my favorites below — let me know if you’ve seen any of them in the comments!

Holiday in Handcuffs (Tubi, Hulu) — One of my favorites, starring Melissa Joan Hart and Mario Lopez. A waitress kidnaps a customer to bring home for Christmas after her boyfriend dumps her right before her parents expect to meet him.

While You Were Sleeping (Tubi) — I feel like this is an overlooked Christmas romcom, but I love this one. Lucy is a transit worker who saves her crush, Peter, from an oncoming train. When he’s in a coma, and his family assumes Lucy’s his fiancée, she doesn’t correct them. Things become more complicated when she starts falling for Peter’s brother.

Desperately Seeking Santa (Tubi, Hulu) — This one is new to me, but I’m adding it to my regular rotation. The main characters have great chemistry, and the storyline has more depth than the usual cheesy Christmas rom-com. Jennifer is an executive who holds a Hunky Santa contest to increase sales to help her land a promotion. Sparks fly between Jennifer and Hunky Santa, but things get complicated when it comes to light that Jennifer’s corporation is attempting to run his family out of business.

The Spirit of Christmas (Amazon Prime) — I’m usually not into supernatural movies; however, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Kate, an ambitious lawyer, is trying to broker the sale of a historic inn right before Christmas when she meets Daniel, the ghost of a man who died almost a century ago. Daniel turns human 12 days before Christmas, only to disappear by midnight on Christmas each year, and he doesn’t know how to break the curse; Kate’s determined to help and finds herself falling for the handsome ghost in the process.

Naughty or Nice (Amazon Prime) — All One Tree Hill fans, this one is for you (it features Peyton Sawyer and Rachel Gatina). Hilarie Burton also stars in Christmas on the Bayou and The Christmas Contract — both feature other One Tree Hill cast members, which is so fun.

The Holiday (Hulu) — It’s a classic that I watch at least once every year. English Iris isn’t over her ex, who’s newly engaged. Californian Amanda breaks up with her boyfriend after he cheats on her. The two agree to switch houses for a much-needed two-week getaway where they meet local guys and fall in love.

Christmas Cupid (Hulu) — This is another new one I discovered this year that stars Chad Michael Murray (from One Tree Hill). Sloane is a PR executive whose client unexpectedly dies, and she comes back as a ghost to guide Sloane to her one true love.

The Princess Switch (Netflix) — The original is my favorite. A soon-to-be duchess and a lookalike baker from Chicago switch places for two days, and they both fall in love with men in each other’s lives. Vanessa Hudgens plays both roles beautifully, and I loved both storylines.

Serendipity (Netflix) — An oldie but goodie. Jonathan meets Sara one fateful night in their twenties. He wants to contact her again, but she believes in leaving things to destiny. Years later, they must decide if fate’s pushing them together. I’ve been to Serendipity 3 in NYC several times, which is always a fun experience.

What are some of your favorite binge-worthy romantic Christmas movies? I’m always looking for new ones to watch. As for me, this will be my last post for 2021. I want to soak up all the time with my mom while she’s here, but I’ll probably post on Instagram. Wishing you a very merry holiday season! xo

  3. Great list! Elf is one of my faves. I also love Holiday Inn. Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby. It’s black and white, and a little problematic in some areas, but lovely and doesn’t get the attention White Christmas does.
